Tasks
This book is classified in the "self-help" genre, thus it is being written for the general public. Your view of the book thus is critical.
The book will have approximately twenty-four chapters, with the average chapter being around sixteen pages long.
In the order they will appear in the book, you will be asked to read each chapter and then give your opinion on the content of the chapter, the writing style utilized, the clearness of what is written, it's readability, and application to your life and family.
Your opinion matters and will influence rewrites. I will be very interested in what you like about a specific chapter so more of that can be written. If you don't like a chapter, a part of a chapter, or the content of a chapter, feel free to say so. Readers, once accepted into the project, will not be fired. Your thoughts alone, positive or negetive, will not change a chapter. It is the joint effect of your thoughts that will be most influencial.
Your opinions will be heard and compared with those of the other readers. Reader's opinions will not be shared with other readers nor made public unless separate permission is given. Right now there are four of you serving as readers. You are asked not to contact other readers to discuss chapters. We will do that collectively two or three times along the way.
You DO NOT have to read for spelling and grammar; I have one or more editors plus software to carryout that task. All draft chapters will be in the best possible form at the time so there should be few errors. You are welcome to mention typo's and spelling errors as all never are found.
All reading and reporting is done on this website with your report entered on the form on this page. The chapters will be listed earlier in the book with more becoming available every three or four weeks. here, available only to those with the book's password. You may download and print out the chapters if you would like to work that way. Be aware that all materials are copyrighted.
Your review of each chapter is on the next page via a form that will be provided. You simply fill in the form or check the boxes provided. Most of the questions will be open ended, allowing you to go any direction with it.
You have been selected as a reader following an interview via our WebCT webconferencing software. This is free; you do need a webcamera. You will be asked to sign a paper indicating that you will not disclose this information to other authors, professionals or anyone who would make use of it professionally or in writing their own book. You will also be asked to state that you are not writing your own book on this subject area.
Once you begin the project, you may resign as a reader at any time as long as you give two week written notice. You would not have to state a reason for you withdrawal.
There are several other opportunities to participate developing. You may do this project and both others, one other, or just this project. This is project # One. Project # two is to do an audio tape for one of the characters shown on the bottom of the content webpage. I will write a script for you use, and you may edit it, adding or subtracting information and meaning. In essence, you are doing an audio role play in the style of that character. Your recording will need to be around 3 minutes long and must be finished in .mp3 format. I can teach you how to do that. If interested in that project, let me know.
Project # 2 involves a new casebook that has just been reproposed. It will be a case book for generalist practice designed for BSW students. Similar characters will be used, the first person dialogue style will be employed and extensive theory will be interwoven. This will be a joint venture between me and another faculty member. We are in the discussion stages now but have some of the book already drafted through another project. We will be seeking readers for this project, same parameters.
